Map Overview of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Basement Floor 1

I am releasing a new free virtual tabletop and printable map of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Basement Floor 1 in the Forgotten Realms.

Map Location Numbering

As part of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Basement Floor 1 map download files, there is a Dungeon Master’s (DM) map with numbers on it that correspond to the building and room descriptions below:

  1. Main Tower: this is the main tower where residences, laboratories, and other rooms exist. The inside is bigger on the inside.
    1. Library Annex: this is the Library annex or secondary library with more mundane books about history and anything that Khelben generally doesn’t have a high need to review.
    2. Material Storage: Khelben uses this room to store spell components and potions that are not part of active research.
    3. Furniture Storage: Khelben stores spare furniture in this room when not in rotation in rooms of the tower.
    4. Wine and Drink Storage: Khelben stores older wine vintages and any alcohol he is aging here.
    5. Food Storage: storage for food and cooking items.
    6. Sewer Entrance Antechamber: a secret antechamber that leads to the secret door to the Sewer exit for the tower.
    7. Golem Closet: closets with Golems that protect the exits from Blackstaff Tower in case the secret exits were discovered and used by enemies.
    8. Piergeiron’s Palace Antechamber: a secret antechamber that least to the secret door to the tunnels to Piergeiron’s Palace.
    9. Piergeiron’s Palace Tunnel: secret tunnels that lead to Piergeiron’s Palace.
    10. Sewers: provides access to the Waterdeep sewers for escape from the tower if absolutely necessary.

Map Options

Each map of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Basement Floor 1 is 20 X 20 squares and without lighting, because most VTTs support adding lighting to a map. I create several versions of each map based on if it is a city or terrain map. I create summer and winter versions of city maps and grass, sand, snow, and forest versions for terrain maps where it makes sense.

I have created several map variant combinations from the original maps and grouped them into 7zip files for download below. I first group the download links by file extension; currently, I export maps into the WEBP and PDF file formats. I then group the WEBP downloads by the audience (dungeon master or players), grid type (with and without), and color contrast/brightness (original and high contrast). I group the PDF downloads using the WEBP groups and these other PDF groups and page size (Letter for US and A4 for EU) and border (small 0.25-inch border or no border).

Below are the various 7zip files for download. Each file contains either image or PDF map files. You will need 7zip to extract the images or PDFs.
